A world with flawless logistics for war and broken logistics for food

Prime Minister Balendra Shah addressed the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York, Nepal’s Prime Minister drew widespread attention by sharply criticizing the global system’s misplaced priorities. He pointed out the stark contradiction in modern logistics, stating that the world has built flawless supply chains for weapons and warfare while leaving basic food and agricultural supplies broken.

Highlighting this systemic failure, he noted that intercontinental missiles and ammunition can move across borders with precision, yet farmers in developing nations often struggle to obtain essential resources like fertilizer and fuel on time.

He emphasized that this crisis disproportionately impacts countries across South Asia that are grappling with severe climate shocks and supply disruptions they did not cause.
