Shanghai Fashion Week kicked off its Spring/Summer 2027 season on October 8 under the official theme “Renewed Radiance”. Running through October 16, the major nine-day event highlights a powerful blend of global commerce and deep-rooted local craftsmanship.

The event features nearly 100 runway shows and presentations alongside close to 1,000 participating brands, cementing Shanghai’s status as a major fashion capital and launchpad for the Asian market.

The opening show was hosted by Shanghai-based label HEMU, marking its 15th appearance at the event. The collection blended modern design with traditional Chinese heritage, incorporating ancient techniques like yunjin cloud-pattern brocade (in collaboration with national-level master Jin Wen), song brocade, kesi silk tapestry, and intricate embroidery inspired by Dunhuang art.
The Xintiandi main venue features leading independent Chinese designers and contemporary labels like XIAOLI, Short Sentence, Shuting Qiu, and PRONOUNCE (celebrating its 10th anniversary with its debut womenswear line). Meanwhile, platforms like Labelhood continue to spotlight young, emerging talent.
