In 2024, Efa Tabassum emerged as Bangladesh’s representative for the Miss International pageant, marking a significant milestone in her already impressive career. Having previously secured a Top 10 placement at Miss & Mister Celebrity International 2023, she now steps onto the global stage for the second time. Her journey to the international stage reflects not just personal ambition, but a deeper commitment to meaningful change and representation. In an exclusive interview with The Fame Magazine, she shared about her journey, her advocacy work, and her aspirations for the future.

SHOKUBUTSU, the renowned Japanese beauty and personal care brand, stands behind her as the official sponsor of Miss International Bangladesh 2024. Under the guidance of Azra Mahmood, Tabassum underwent extensive training and preparation. The preparation for Miss International demanded a comprehensive team effort, with every detail carefully curated to showcase Bangladesh’s rich cultural heritage and contemporary fashion excellence. Bangladesh’s finest designers, including Sanaya Chowdhury, Afsana Ferdoushi, Tasmit Afiyat Arny, and Tanha Yesmin, among others, crafted her show-stopping wardrobe for the competition. The national costume, designed by Yasin Ahmed Sokal and Nusrat Sadia Farjana, particularly impressed international audiences, while her finale gown by Sanaya Chowdhury, adorned with ZEVER By Arohye jewelry, created an unforgettable impression.

Yet, it’s her personal touch—doing her own makeup throughout the competition—that speaks volumes about her authenticity. Her representation of Bangladesh extended far beyond the stage, as she connected with people on a deeper level, helping reshape global perceptions of her nation.

But Tabassum’s true crowning glory? Her groundbreaking work in female safety and mental health advocacy. Landing in the Top 11 for her SDG video, she’s proven that beauty queens can be warriors for change.

“True beauty lies in compassion, and I hope to reflect that in everything I do,” Tabassum shares.

Her ultimate goal? The United Nations stage—not for the spotlight, but for the chance to amplify her voice for global causes. With or without the Miss International crown, Efa Tabassum is already winning hearts by redefining what it means to be a beauty queen in 2024. She’s not just representing Bangladesh; she’s representing a future where pageants become platforms for meaningful change.
