10.53% Monthly Surge: Bangladesh Garment Exports to the UK

Bangladesh’s ready-made garment (RMG) exports to the United Kingdom staged a strong recovery in August, successfully offsetting a sluggish start to the fiscal year. According to data released by the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB), apparel shipments to the UK rose by 10.53% year-on-year in August, erasing a minor 2.44% dip recorded in July. This double-digit monthly surge pushed total garment exports to the UK for the first two months (July–August) of the fiscal year to $915.63 million, marking a 3.74% increase compared to the $882.62 million registered during the same period last year.Industry insiders note that the robust August performance elevated average monthly earnings to roughly $457.82 million—significantly outpacing the previous fiscal year’s average—and reinforced the UK’s position as a vital cornerstone for Bangladesh’s primary export sector.
