Messi Moves to Second All-Time in Free-Kick Goals During 2-2 Draw

Lionel Messi reached another milestone by scoring his 75th career direct free-kick goal during Inter Miami’s 2-2 draw against San Diego FC. San Diego opened the scoring early when Anders Dreyer netted a clever chip in the 12th minute. Messi quickly responded in the 24th minute, curling a trademark left-footed free-kick past the wall to equalize. This landmark strike moved him to second on the all-time list of direct free-kick scorers globally. It also elevated his staggering career total to 930 goals and marked his 101st strike for Inter Miami. Luis Suárez later put Inter Miami ahead in the 74th minute with a close-range finish. However, San Diego fought back late as Dreyer scored his second of the night in the 82nd minute to secure a point. The stalemate extends Inter Miami’s current streak of consecutive MLS draws to four matches.
