1. Alia Bhatt

The 2024 Met Gala saw endless ethereal looks gracing the red carpet but no one slayed like Alia Bhatt. Alia elegantly created an Indian-inspired look on this year’s theme, The Garden of Time. In her words, “The dress code “Garden of Time” needed something timeless and there is nothing more timeless than a sari.” The actress turned heads in a mint green custom Sabyasachi sari hand-embroidered with sequins, tassels, semi-precious stones, and fringed with glass beads. The Immaculate Creation took about 1,965 hours to craft and truly brought the drama with a flowing 23-foot-long train with floral detailing. Without any extravagance, the earthy-toned warm makeup and thoughtfully created hairstyle, reflecting nature’s roots, undoubtedly made her the Met Gala goddess.

2. Zendaya in Maison Margiela by John Galliano

As the co-chair for the 2024 Met Gala, Zendaya was undoubtedly the one to watch at the ‘Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion’ themed event. The ‘Challengers’ actress appeared in a custom Maison Margiela Artisanal by John Galliano creation inspired by the book ‘The Garden of Time.’

Her organza bias-cut dress, worn over a duchess satin corset, drew inspiration from the iconic Dior by Galliano Spring 1999 Haute Couture gown, complete with fruity corsages. However, Zendaya’s look was elevated with vibrant colors, a hand-painted plume-like veil by Stephen Jones for Maison Margiela, and stunning makeup by Pat McGrath, setting the tone for the evening’s event.

3. Tyla

As a performer, Tyla isn’t afraid to embrace unconventional looks. Making her Met debut, the South African singer wowed in a shimmering strapless Sands of Time-inspired creation designed by Balmain’s creative director, Olivier Rousteing. The figure-hugging gown, made from a plaster mold of Tyler’s body, is truly one-of-a-kind. Balmain detailed the unique applique process of pressing three different shades of sand and microcrystal studs onto the fabric. She accessorized with a chain-dripping manicure and a Balmain hourglass clutch.

Styled by Mimi Cuttrell, the supermodel donned a white off-the-shoulder Tom Brown gown with a corseted bodice and a ruffled skirt trimmed in black satin. The Italian garden-inspired design featured 2.8 million micro-bugel beads, handmade 3D yellow rosettes, and green thorn appliqués, which reportedly took a team of over 70 people and 13,500 hours to complete. The expertly crafted piece was undoubtedly one of the most eye-catching gowns of the night. Hadid’s retro curves with red lips completed the classic look.

No met gala review would be complete without a little criticism and unfortunately, here we go with none other than Kimberly Kardashian. The Kardashians are notorious for pulling unrealistic body standards and unhealthy fashion standards for women. This year, Kim appeared on Met Gala with slick fashion. Not meeting the gala theme, the celebrity’s appearance also seemed to suffocate her breathing. The bottom being different than the upper body which happens to be a cardigan also did not gain much affirmative reaction.
